Many churches translate in more than one place: a second campus, a youth room or an overflow space. SermonWave doesn't have a self-serve "campus" feature yet. This article explains what works today and what to plan around.
Who it's for#
Org Admins and tech directors at churches with more than one location or room.
Before you start#
- Read Choose a device type. Each location needs its own device to hear its speaker.
- Know your plan's device count. See Plans and your free trial.
How SermonWave is organized#
Each SermonWave account is one church (an organization). A church has:
- one church profile, logo and public church page,
- one listener page at
sermonwave.com/listen/your-church, - one sermon archive,
- one list of users,
- one plan.
A church can have many devices. Each device has its own name, translation languages, voice and audio settings.
Option 1 — One account, one device per location#
This is the simplest setup and works for most churches.
- Add one device per location, named so it's obvious where it lives, such as "North Campus booth" or "Youth room laptop". See Set up a web device or Set up your SW1.
- Set each device's languages to match the people at that location. See Device settings.
- Make sure your plan covers the number of devices. Extra devices are added on the Plan & Billing screen.
Works well when: locations translate at different times. For example, a main service at 9:00 and a youth service at 11:00, or a second campus that only needs captions now and then.
Everything from all devices goes into the same archive. Each recording is listed under Events with its date and time.
Option 2 — A separate account for each campus#
Give each campus its own SermonWave account when campuses hold services at the same time, or want their own public identity.
- Create a new account for the campus at sermonwave.com/signup. Use a different email address from your main login, for example the campus pastor's or tech director's email. See Create your SermonWave account.
- Give it a clear name, such as "Grace Church North Campus". The name is used for the campus's web address.
- Set up its profile, devices and QR codes as you would for any church.
Each campus then has its own listener page, QR codes, archive, users and plan. Each new account starts with its own free trial.
Things to know:
- A login belongs to one account. Staff who work at two campuses need a login at each.
- Each account has its own plan and its own bill.
Option 3 — Linked campuses (talk to us)#
SermonWave can link campus accounts so your main church's team sees every campus's devices and events from one login. This is set up by the SermonWave team, not from the dashboard. Contact us if you'd like it.
When campuses are linked:
- Device cards show which campus each device belongs to.
- When you add a web device or connect OBS, you choose the Organization it belongs to. That decides which listener page and archive its services go to.
- Your church profile and Plan & Billing screen still apply to your own church.
What isn't supported yet#
- Creating campuses yourself, or switching between churches from a menu in the dashboard.
- A separate listener page or QR code for each device inside one account.
- More than one live service on the same listener page at the same time.
- One login that belongs to several separate accounts.
- More than one address on a church profile.
Troubleshooting#
Listeners at one campus hear the other campus. Both devices were live at the same time on one account, and the listener page shows the newest live service. Stagger start times, or move one campus to its own account.
"Your free trial includes 1 device." The trial covers one device. Choose a plan with enough devices to add more. See Plans and your free trial.
"Choose the organization this device belongs to." Your login can see linked campuses. Pick the campus where this device will be used.
I can't sign up a second campus with my email. Each email can belong to one login. Use another address for the new account.
FAQ#
How many devices can one account have?#
As many as your plan includes. Each plan includes one device, and you can add extra devices to any plan.
Can each campus use different languages?#
Yes. Languages are set per device, so each location's device can translate into its own languages.
Is there a multi-campus plan?#
Not on the pricing page. If you have several campuses, contact us to talk about your setup.
