Share your listener link and QR code

People join your translated service by opening your listener page. A QR code is the easiest way to get them there. This article shows where to find your link, how to make QR codes, and how to get them in front of people.

Who it's for#

  • Church admins and communications volunteers who make bulletins, slides and signs.
  • Tech volunteers who want a QR code on screen before the sermon.

Before you start#

  • You can sign in to the dashboard at dashboard.sermonwave.com.
  • Your church profile is set up (see Church profile), so the listener page shows your name and logo.
  • To learn what listeners see after they scan, read How the listener page works.

Your church's listener page is:

sermonwave.com/listen/your-church

your-church is your church's short name. The fastest way to see your exact link is the setup guide:

  1. Open the setup guide in the dashboard. While setup isn't finished, Home shows a Start setup or Continue setup button. After that, go to dashboard.sermonwave.com/main/setup.
  2. Go to the Listeners step, What your congregation sees.
  3. Your link is shown with a Copy button, along with the Spanish version (sermonwave.com/es/listen/your-church) and a QR code.
  4. Click Take the listener tour to open the page yourself with a short walkthrough.

If you use the OBS plugin, the SermonWave dock in OBS also has a Listener link with Copy link and Show QR.

The Links screen makes short links with QR codes and tracks how many times each is opened.

  1. In the dashboard, click Links in the menu.
  2. Click Create Link.
  3. Fill in the form:
    • Label: a name you'll recognize, for example "Sunday Service - Spanish". It is also printed on the PDF.
    • Destination URL: where the link goes. Paste your listener link, for example https://sermonwave.com/listen/your-church.
    • Type: Organization for your listener page, Event for one service, Language for a language-specific link, or Custom for anything else.
    • Language: optional, for your own reference (for example es).
  4. Click Save. The new link appears in the list with its short URL.
  5. Use the buttons on the link card:
    • Copy copies the short URL.
    • The QR code button (QR Code) opens the code. Choose Foreground and Background colors and click Update Colors, then Download PNG or Download PDF.
    • The PDF button (Download PDF) makes a one-page printable sheet with your church name, the label, "Scan to listen in your language", and the QR code.
    • The pencil button (Edit) changes the label or destination.

Once a link has been opened, its card shows how many clicks it has had, so you can see whether the bulletin or the slide is working. Make separate links for the bulletin and the slide if you want to compare them.

You can make a link that opens the listener page with Spanish or French menus by using the /es/ or /fr/ address, for example https://sermonwave.com/es/listen/your-church. When the Spanish page opens and the service offers Spanish, Spanish is chosen as the sermon language automatically. Print these on a Spanish- or French-language insert.

Tips for printing and slides#

Bulletins and cards

  • Use Download PDF for a ready-to-print sheet, or Download PNG to place the code in your own bulletin design.
  • Print the QR code at least 2.5 cm (1 inch) wide. Bigger is better for older phones.
  • Keep strong contrast: a dark code on a light background. Avoid light codes on dark paper.
  • Add a line in the languages you serve, for example "Scan to listen in your language".

Slides and screens

  • Show the QR code on screen for a minute before the sermon starts, and again after announcements.
  • Make it large. Someone in the back row should be able to scan it.
  • Put the short link under the code for people who prefer to type.

Signs and the welcome desk

  • A table tent or poster at the entrance helps visitors find it before the service.
  • Brief greeters: "Scan, pick your language, and put in earbuds."

Online

  • Paste the link in your newsletter, website and social posts. Remote listeners can follow live from anywhere.
  • Listeners can pass it on with Share This Church or Copy Link at the bottom of your listener page.

Troubleshooting#

The QR code opens a "Link not found" page. The link was deleted. Create a new link and reprint, or check the list on the Links screen.

People scan but see no live service. That's expected before the service starts. The LIVE NOW card appears on its own when your device goes live. See How the listener page works.

The PDF doesn't download. Try again, or use Download PNG and print the image instead.

FAQ#

Should I make one QR code or one per language?#

One code for your listener page is enough. Listeners pick their language after they scan. Separate language links help when you print inserts in other languages.

Can I make a QR code for a single sermon?#

Yes. Open the sermon's public page, copy its address, and use it as the Destination URL with type Event. See Share sermons.

No. Your listener link stays the same from week to week, so you can print it once.
